Uganda Rural Development and Training Institute (URDT-I)
Awakening the sleeping genius in each of us
URDT Institute (URDT-I) is implementing a five-year program titled “The Sustainable Inclusive Employment Pathways (SIYEP)” for young women, under a consortium of seven partners led by the Agency for Accelerated Regional Development (AFARD). The program period is 2025–2030.
The SIYEP Program aims to equip rural-based, disadvantaged young women with market-relevant technical, vocational, soft, and entrepreneurship skills, with the goal of transitioning 90% into work and 70% into dignified and fulfilling employment by 2030.
As part of the consortium, URDT-I will skill 50,000 young women including 7% refugees and 5% young women with disabilities (YWWDs) through market-relevant skills development, entrepreneurship training, and facilitation of access to capital and market information. The Institute aims to transition 45,000 participants into work and 35,000 into dignified and fulfilling employment, with 90% expected to achieve self-employment and 10% to secure wage employment.
